We engage with the various researchers on the team to ensure that the cryo-EM operations align with the specific project needs. On a daily basis, this involves sharing
technical expertise and troubleshooting their project and formulating their experiments.

Expectations

Your Scientist On-Site’s responsibilities

Be an advisor on operational processes around the cryo-EM workflow, proactively drive improvements.
Coordinate with site lab personnel and with Thermo Fisher’s service team to schedule service.
Check on data quality/alignments when needed, ensuring the facility is stocked with various microscopy needs.
Proactively design and implement improvements in the workflow to improve speed, quality, and reliability of data collection on Thermo Fisher’s equipment.
Work closely with users for microscope time slot scheduling and management.
Collaborate closely with site scientists to contribute to the creation of essential documentation. (Example: manuals for users; check lists; operation procedures)

The scientist will follow Thermo Fisher’s standard operating procedure for reporting service issues and will open service calls as necessary (at which point the issue will be owned and managed by Thermo Fisher’s field service team who will interface with both the scientist and site).
Grid loading and data collection.
Help TEM users with grid preparation.
Receive/send cryo-EM samples and store them properly.
Training of users regarding grid preparation and data collection.
Adhere to confidentiality or NDA agreements.
